Happy new year.

Today I did a schedule for my film. I want to finish it by February 15th so that I can submit it to Annecy. I’ve done some maths (I can do animation and maths) and I worked out I need to do about 80 seconds a week which is 11.4 seconds a day if I work every day. I’ve done about 80 seconds already so basically all I need to do is do the equivalent of what I’ve done from July 20th, 2011 to January 2nd, 2012 in a week, every week, for six weeks.

At times like this I look back to when I’ve made films before…

Here’s a little itv Christmas ident I I animated on. Tim Ruffle from Aardman directed and designed the characters. This one is called Yule!

I also did the dodgems one which was shown right before the Xfactor final so maybe even Leona Lewis saw it.

Been working at Aardman on some ITV Christmas idents with Tim Ruffle. Been hard resisting getting into the spirit and watching my favourite Mariah Carey/Disney Christmas video before it’s December but I’ve managed it so far.

Also moved to London and been working on my film in-between jobs. I’ve set myself a deadline of 15th February for the Annecy short film deadline to get it done. A schedule is what I need. Going ok so far though; picture for proof that I’ve done at least 65 frames.

I didn’t know. But I had just been reading the bit in the Great Gatsby where Nick Carraway is living near New York City and someone asks him directions.

“I told him [that I didn’t know]. And as I walked on I was lonely no longer. I was a guide, a pathfinder, an original settler. He had casually conferred on me the freedom of the neighbourhood.”

And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.

It was 104 degrees fahrenheit. In the kids play park there were water sprinklers and this girl was standing under one of them making this noise. I wanted to go join her and do the same - but not being a kid I didn’t think I was allowed; which was a shame because, as I said, it was 104 degrees fahrenheit.

Try and ignore Woody Allen’s head in the image above and imagine a stickman with a trilby hat on instead because on Thursday 21st July my film Keith Reynolds can’t make it tonight will be showing on a big outdoor screen in Brooklyn, NYC before the feature film, The Sweet Smell of Success! It’ll be at sunset on Pier 1, Harbor View Lawn. More details on the Brooklyn Movies With a View website!

Apparently 4,000 will be there; that’s the equivalent of the entire population of Tumble in Carmarthenshire watching it.
