The TATE MovieProject, The Itch of the Golden Nit, had its network premiere on BBC2 this morning!
Was really good to see the result of over a year of hard work and read some of the great reactions from the kids on the TATE Movie forum too. Well done to them all - they did a fantastic job :)
If you missed it then don’t worry because it’s on again tomorrow at about 5.15pm on the CBBC channel (or you can watch it on iPlayer)! If you have kids you should take them to see it (for free I think) at one of the cinema screenings across the U.K.! There’s a list of selected cinemas on the TATE Movie website.
Last night was the big TATE Movie Project premiere at Leicester Square. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go, but no-one could stop me from drinking a whole bottle of champagne alone at home or creating a miniature red carpet scene depicting me meeting Stacey Solomon either. She’s not as tall as I thought she’d be - but she sure is pretty.
Those of you with a keen eye will notice that’s Harry Enfield on the far right.
There’s a review of the film on the Guardian website.
There’s a nice little video about the TATE Movie Project on the BBC website :) It’s almost finished!
One of my jobs on The TATE Movie Project is to make assets for the animation tool. The last set were dinosaur ones and Kirsten set the kids a task to do a super-dino trailer combining the animation tool with the mash-up tool so I decided to do one too!
You can watch ‘A Perfectly Nice Conversation Between Two Dinosaurs’ here! Should you have any, it’s still not too late for your kids to have a go if they want to make one as well!

Here’s another animation I wrote and half animated on the TATE Movie website! It’s when Ronnie meets the evil Stella (who is voiced by Catherine Tate - how apt; I mean because her surname is Tate - not because she’s evil).
You can watch it here on the studio page :)
I did Ronnie and Stella was animated by Fluff/Hrefna Bragadottir!

I finally have a crew t-shirt! (Thanks to the TATE Movie Project). My list of things to do before I’m 30 just got a little shorter.
Yesterday was a funny day for The TATE Movie Project. I will let Kirsten Williams (the community manager) explain…
The Tate Movie Project
After 9 months of the Tate Movie Project, a film for and by children, the kids who created the main characters of the film came to visit the Aardman Studios. ‘The Itch of the Golden Nit’ will be coming out in June and as the animation on the film is almost finished, the Tate Movie ‘crew’ from workshops and the Tate Movie website were invited to see their work.
The children got to see their pictures come to life and the film’s animators got to meet the creators of the brilliant characters they’ve been working on. As the Community Manager on the project, meeting the children who regularly use the website was lovely… and the Tate Movie ‘Golden Nit’ cakes were good too!
I didn’t actually get to meet any of the kids or have any cake but I did sit at my desk and wave at them which was almost as fun.

I’ve been working on The TATE Movie project website as an animator for a while now but towards the end of last year I’ve been writing scripts for it too; this has been really fun - especially when it involves some of the characters from the film!
Click here (within this week) to see when Ronnie meets the hero of the film, Beanie! I wrote the little script and animated Ronnie, Alex Wilmott animated the over-excited Beanie (made from a child’s drawing!) and Robin Davey did the lovely background.
